The Tamil Federation of Gauteng and it's affiliates call on the international community to pressurize Sri-Lanka into allowing United Nations war crimes investigators into the country.
The Sri-Lankan government has said it would not issue the UN investigators with visas, thereby disallowing the truth to be told by independent parties.
Several thousand Tamil civilians were killed in government raids on Tamil areas as the war ended last year. Many of them were inncoent women and children who perished in bomb blasts and explosions.
Amnesty International has been pleading with Sri-Lanka to stop it's toture of men and Tamil boys as young as 15. The army had said they were looking for "terrorists" but the cries of Tamil children still echoe in the refugee camps ( jails).
We South Africans understand how important it is for the truth to be told about political crimes. We therefore plead with the SA government and the international community to be vocal about this this issue. Investigators must be allowed onto the island!
